Put the brakes on that rape train folks!
Incredibly, somehow or another, and despite conventional wisdom, the good People of Massachusetts stopped the Socialism Express dead in its tracks tonight. This wasn’t a Brown win, it was a Coakley loss…it was an Obama loss.
Why, how and why now? It was health care reform legislation folks.
In the bluest state ever, the voters have turned their back on Obama and one-party Socialist rule. I figured New Jersey and Virginia to be flukes. Nah, they were just early indicators. The Democrats in Massachusetts knew very well that if they let this one get away, health care reform (in its current form) was dead. They let it go. Next on the endangered list: Cap’N Trade.
On behalf of your friends in Eastern Connecticut, Thanks Mass!

First the tea parties then the town halls now the ballot box. It’s time for those in Washington, Hartford and elsewhere to stand up and pay attention. It’s the people’s government not the special interests nor those with social agendas.
1Even the longest journey begins with the first step. And in this case this is the third and might I say loudest step so far! First New Jersey then Virginia and now Massachusetts. The new “shot heard round the world!”
Congrats to the people of Massachusetts. Also to all of those involved with this spectacular victory for freedom, all of the volunteers and to the Tea Party Patriots!
Even Gavin Newsom the Mayor of San Fransisco, CA knows what’s about to happen. Read from an article from the San Fransisco Chronicle today:
But Newsom said the Republican resurgence in Massachusetts suggests “there’s real intensity and fervor out there, as represented by the Tea Party” activists expressing anger at government spending and at job losses.
“This is real,” he said. “At our own peril, we dismiss these tea parties as … some sort of isolated extremism. … It’s not.”

First we were ignored, then we were ridiculed and now we win.
2That shot heard around the world…had a bit of recoil to it…if I was a Dem…I would pay Obama to NOT come campaign for me…he’s 3 for 3 in losses.
3Watch this man closely. The time will come to unite against Romneycare.
4This IS huge and a complete slap to the socialist “progressive” democrat . It’s also a great indication of what’s to come in 2010.
5We here in CT need to work hard to get rid of the losers that are infesting CT. If the very blue MA can do it, it should be a cake walk for us.
Dan,
We plan on keeping an eye on all of them. We are no longer happy with the status quo of elect them and let them run free. But we will keep an eye on this one.
6That’s an excellent plan Mike – on this one especially.
To be honest, I was amazed at how slick this guy was. We’re not talking about a George Bush behind borrow and spend. We’re talking about a Bill Clinton.
To get social conservatives to rally around a pro choice candidate, fiscal conservatives to rally around someone who implemented Romneycare, and even a lot of Democrats to hold their nose on this one… that’s talent.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the GOP runs this man for president in 2012. And the logic of “stop the Democrats” will be the same. What’s actually been stopped by yesterday’s election will be another story, but the point is that we should bear this in mind going forward. And expect them to sell this guy as the first “tea party president”.
7Doom and Gloom huh, Danny? You’re depressing. Maybe, just maybe YOU are the one that we need to keep a close eye on…..
8I voted for Obama because he is a decent man. And I still believe it! … He is not the one foreclosing on your neighbor who fell on hard luck… He is not the one denying your neighbor medical care because of a pre-existing condition. etc., etc., etc.. In fact, he pledged to bring healthcare to ALL AMERICANS.
I feel sorry for him. Really. He is a decent man and all you do is bad mouth him. Not only that, you bad mouth half of your neighbors who may be selflessly trying to care about the well being of others by supporting the President. Honestly, yours are not the principles that my Father fought for.
Given the atmosphere in this region, I can honestly say that, when they are old enough, I will have a conversation with my kids about a life elsewhere… By that I mean leaving this country. Me and my family have been here since the Mayflower. My fate is sealed here but I’ll be damned if I don’t talk to my kids about their options for leaving your selfish form of community behind. My kids will gladly send taxes to a government that cares for ALL it’s people. Not just a priveledged few…I am furious. You can all kiss my ass.
9…and you can get ready to be picked apart Bryan.
10Ray,
No. Think of me more as “I told you what would happen when you did it, but you did it anyway.”
So it took Brown less than 24 hours to start turning on you –
(Forward to 5:15, listen carefully, pick jaw up off floor.)

Bryan,
You and Ray have the same problem. You have a lot more in common than you think – just with two seperate groups of people.
11Holy crap! Let’s work as a team, ME first. I truly hope he does better than the same old politial bs
12Dan,
Not true. I told everyone to kiss my ass. Thanks again for that opportunity.
13That is very caring of you Bryan. To be giving of yourself and others that way. I think I want to move to your neighborhood. I’m tired of working. I have my house I can’t afford anymore but I don’t have the 54″ plasma screen tv. Will you make the mortgage payments for me so I can get the big screen? I want a bigger truck too but my health care costs too much because I smoke and am 60lbs overweight, will you pay for it so I can buy the truck too? Well maybe you’re tapped out by now so I guess I’ll have to ask my other neighbor to pay for the pool the kids really want.
But please don’t leave the country. How are you going to pay for all my goodies when you leave? You can come over once in awhile and catch a game on my big ‘ol TV. I know you work long hours, but please don’t ask me to mow your yard, it would be beneath me.
14John,
I’m all for teamwork – in the right direction. While I also hope (against all hope) that Brown breaks his promise to deliver exactly what we’re fighting against, the fact is that he never did and he won’t.
If we only act based on what we don’t want, we won’t be acting to create what we actually do want. That means not rolling back a single act of fiscal insanity – not one.
Running toward the Republican end of the ship, then back to the Democratic end and back to the Republican end to correct an imbalance caused by both – no matter what either end is selling – got us exactly where we are. And the best arguments of doing it again have just as many merits as those arguing that socialism would have worked if we only got the right person doing it – and that eventually we would.
We did exactly that with Brown. And it’s time to acknowledge it.
While the Republican end had every opportunity to get it right as it did with Ron Paul and continues to have that opportunity in the form of Peter Schiff here, Debra Medina (running against Rick Tax and Spend Perry and Kay Bailout Hutchinson) and Steve Shoppee (running against Lamar Neocon Bailout Smith), once again, that machine will pull all the dirty tricks it can to put up the most tax and spend Republicans it can find.
There are a lot of actual Republicans out there. The party establishment either wants nothing to do with them or expects them to start bending on that in order to be endorsed.
And when that pans out, wacky healthcare interventions and cap and tax schemes will only be a problem when Democrats do it. And to establishment Democrats, nation building will only be a problem when Republicans do it. The moderate middle who wants actual national defense and no part of these cap and tax and healthcare schemes will be told to go scratch by the two party establishment. And after all, you can’t expect any less if they ask for it out of fear of what they don’t want. It’s no better than leaving the door open for burglars and a note on the counter that says, “Please don’t take anything”.
The GOP is a sacred cow. The tea party movement needs steaks and leather jackets. The problem is that most of the tea party movement is new to this process and doesn’t quite understand what’s being done and how it’s being done. I’ll create a post explaining how the GOP pulls it off in the next few days.
Bryan,
Here’s what I mean by the same problem. It’s two seperate approaches to Romneycare, a blank check for bank fraud, a White House run by lobbyists and Wall Street, a wilfull attempt to ignore the Constitution and destruction of the dollar.
Anyone who trusts the guy in charge of that needs their head examined. The same applies to people looking the other way when the George Bushes of the world do it.
So yes, the same problem it is. Neither party hesitates to ask for a 23rd chance no matter how ridiculous it gets. The suckers on either path won’t hesitate to give that 23rd chance.
And the first thing, the very first thing to be stripped from his plan was the universal healthcare you were promised. Let’s leave the fiscal and constitutional issues aside for now. Anyone who was paying attention to this from day one (as in 2007) could see that it would turn into a glorified insurance subsidy, a stealth tax to offset fiscal insanity and roll over treasuries and anything but affordable healthcare.
So the same health insurance companies engaging in insurance fraud donated to Obama and McCain to make sure exactly what’s being hashed out would come into being. And the Pauls and Kuciniches of the world were railroaded out of the way so nothing would get in the way of this plan.
15Dan,
It’s pathetic that our country, with it’s wealth and vast resources, is a nation divided, filled with uncaring people like Paul. Out of pure ignorance Paul ridicules the concept of equal access to healthcare. He must be cast of perfect genes and fails to understand that even his own good health is temporary.
Not everyone in poor condition behaves recklessly as Paul would imply. I say spend at least forty hours visiting patients at a hospice or hospital to witness what half the country understands. At some point, EVERYONE will need access to health care. Even perfect people like Paul.
Millions of dedicated listeners follow hate mongers like Rush Limbaugh. He and his employers thrive on controvery and disfunction. They sell their spots to the highest bidder and will tear down any good idea when it serves their own bottom line. In this case, the healthcare bill. And self righteous listeners sit fat, dumb and happy!…Filled with hate and racial bias. The machine keeps oiled and lines a few pockets with millions. That has become the American way and it sickens me.
16Bryan,
We invite your input here, but you have a lot to learn (as do all of us).
Do you enjoy your freedom to speak (or type) freely today? Thank a vet…thank Paul. I’m also a vet, but I didn’t see the “business” that Paul did. He IS compassionate, and he works for his family (and aids others) to ensure such. That is his choice, and your judgement (is…in my judgement) incorrect.
I’d invite you to join a casual converation, and not to engage in quick attacks. Ask about the people here, don’t prejudge.
On that, I’d ask you, who are you, what do you do, and what do you do to help your fellow brothers and sisters in humanity? People here know me and where I come from (urgh Anaheim, California actually) – but lets talk honestly and openly about ideas to advance us all…your instinct to fight is a bit premature, let us get to know eachother before we box.
17The ant works hard, in the withering heat, all summer long.
He builds his house and stores supplies for the winter.
The grasshopper thinks that the ant is a fool.
He laughs, dances and plays the summer away, preparing nothing for the coming winter.
Winter comes, the ant is safe and warm.
The shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and fed, while others are cold and starving!
CBS, NBC, ABC & CNN show up to provide pictures of shivering grasshoppers, next to a video of an ant
in his comfortable home, with a table filled with food.
America is stunned by the sharp contrast! How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor
grasshopper is allowed to suffer this way?
Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah, with the grasshopper.
Everyone cries when they sing “It’s Not Easy Being Green”.
Jesse Jackson stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house, where the news stations film the group
singing “We Shall Overcome”.
Jesse then has the group pray for the grasshopper’s sake, and reminds the group to contribute to his group, so that he can “continue the fight” for grasshoppers, everywhere!
Chris Dodd & John Kerry exclaim, in an interview with Keith Olberman, that the ant has gotten rich, off
the back of the poor grasshopper!
Both call for an immediate tax hike, to make the ant pay “his fair share”!
Finally, the EEOC drafts the “Economic Equity For Grasshoppers Act”, retroactive to the beginning of the
summer.
The ant is fined for failing to hire the proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to
pay his retroactive taxes, his house is confiscated by the government.
Hillary Clinton gets her old law firm to represent the grasshopper, in a defamation suit against the ant.
The case is tried in federal court, with a jury comprised of unemployed welfare recipients.
Surprise! The ant loses the case!
The story ends, as we see the grasshopper finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food, while the government house he lives in (which happens to be the ant’s old house) crumbles around him,
18due to lack of maintenance!
Rich,
Do I get up every day to salute the flag and thank a vet?…Not lately!
19However, I do appreciate those who serve then, quietly rejoin the ranks as taxpayers because that is what we do in this country. Thanks.
.. And why did I post here originally? Because you called the Obama administration a “rape train” and supporters “socialists.”
So, I’m the one guilty of quick attacks? So, I’m supposed to give you my name rank and serial number before I defend a proposed healthcare overhaul? You’ve got to be kidding!
Bud, I am a taxpayer who wholeheartedly supports equal access to healthcare for all Americans no matter what their socio-economic condition is. It’s that simple.
Oh Bryan, I was just trying to get to know you….by all means maintain your anonymity…I was just asking your approximate age range to know how to relate. I’m one of the younger posters on here.
I try to use humor in my posts. The “rape train” is actually a video game reference FYI. Did you notice “Eastern CT’s Right Wing Extremist HQ”? – tongue in cheek also.
I don’t think anybody who posts here would disagree that we need health care reform. The direction the Congress was headed however, was out of step with about 70% of Americans. Now that is a problem.
We’ve recommended changes to our Senators and Rep. Courtney, but it fell on deaf ears. Accordingly, we will have to replace them. Watch the change in attitude now that the supermajority is gone.
So, that being said, nice having you here and we invite your ideas!
20Bryan,
Let me address some of this point by point –
“It’s pathetic that our country, with it’s wealth and vast resources, is a nation divided, filled with uncaring people like Paul. Out of pure ignorance Paul ridicules the concept of equal access to healthcare. He must be cast of perfect genes and fails to understand that even his own good health is temporary.”
I think that’s an unfair assumption. But we all agree, I think, that insurance fraud is wrong – just as wrong as politicians caving in and making a “compromise” where we’re all forced to buy into the same insurance fraud. If you’re going to collect premiums and not pay out in the event in question, that’s fraud and it should land you in jail. No one here is against the sick being able to get treated, neither is anyone here against doctors being able to do their job.
But successful arrangements like us being able to buy policies of our choosing, lodge practice medicine and actual price discovery were legislated out of existence a long time ago – and the significant damage was done more than 40 years ago – long before Obamacare/Romneycare ever reached the table.
I’m not sure if you noticed what happened to the HMO stocks after it was predicted that Obamacare would pass, but they went up – big time. They wanted this from the beginning, and like the banks with the Federal Reserve Act, absolutely condemned the arrangement so people would say, “Boy, this bill will really fix their wagon”. Very clever on their part if you ask me. But it works everytime so they run with it.
“Not everyone in poor condition behaves recklessly as Paul would imply. I say spend at least forty hours visiting patients at a hospice or hospital to witness what half the country understands. At some point, EVERYONE will need access to health care. Even perfect people like Paul.”
You’re right that not everyone behaves recklessly – but to say so without going to implied statements would suffice.
“Millions of dedicated listeners follow hate mongers like Rush Limbaugh. He and his employers thrive on controvery and disfunction.”
Right. Lots of ‘em on the left too.
“They sell their spots to the highest bidder and will tear down any good idea when it serves their own bottom line.”
Agree.
“In this case, the healthcare bill.”
Phenomenally wrong. It just reinforces the exact type of cost increases and denial of care you’re correct to complain about. Just look at what it says, who wrote it (hint – not just Congress), and it all starts making sense. But this goes beyond a simple heist – one they’ll try to ram through using Republicans or Democrats, whoever gets it done first. It’s literally impossible to tax and borrow enough to pay for this, at least in the long term. So when it does go into effect after the first few years of just extra taxes, you’ll get two or three years’ of coverage, tops, then the dollar tanks and/or the bond market gives treasuries the finger.
“And self righteous listeners sit fat, dumb and happy!…Filled with hate and racial bias.”
Probably a small handful fit into that category. But I have a big problem with statements to the effect of “If you oppose our policy, you’re racist” or “all Democrats are automatically commie pinkos”.
But if we generalize, we can expect nothing in terms of any meaningful dialogue. You can forget finding any common ground with people if you do that. That common ground is especially important if we’re all to agree that being ripped off is wrong and we need to stop it.
“The machine keeps oiled and lines a few pockets with millions. That has become the American way and it sickens me.”
Right… and left… And it sickens me too. But you’re off a few decimal places with “millions”. It’s more like trillions or hundreds of billions depending upon who we’re talking about.
21Not one mention of the REAL reason Coakley lost. It was her part in the modern-day equivalent of the Salem Witch trials
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Day_care_sex_abuse_hysteria
Myself and the vast majority of my acquaintances could not hold our nose long enough to pull the lever for this woman. The liberal AND the libertarian wings of the democratic party stayed home.
22Medford,
That was probably the number three reason – but a significant contributor. The major factor was simply anti incumbent. Combine that with the illusion that throwing out one party for another would lead to actual change, and you have a Scott Brown victory.
Beyond the reasons people don’t vote, the day care fiasco being in that column, you also have to count the reasons why people do vote.
23
